Some machines previously running QuickMail Pro may no longer be able to support these new system requirements. - - - - - - Installation and Upgrading Notes ¥ Before installing, we recommend backing up your QuickMail Pro data folder. Your data is either located in the QuickMail Pro Data folder or the CE Software folder. ¥ Before installing, you must logout of QuickMail and quit all other QuickMail-related applications. ¥ Before installing, we recommend restarting your computer with all virus-detection software disabled. ¥ If you upgrade from 1.5.4 and choose to convert your address books, you may need to reselect your default address book. ¥ If you use the QuickMail Pro Menu, we recommend restarting your computer and rebuilding your desktop after installing 3.1. ¥ The QuickMail 3.1 Installer moves the CE Software folder into the Application Support folder. If you choose to downgrade to 2.x or below, you must move your CE Software to the root of the System folder. - - - - - - Special Notes for Mac OS X Users Moving Your Existing QuickMail Pro Data to OS X Immediately after installing and prior to launching QuickMail Pro, you must copy your existing QuickMail Pro data to your OS X Documents folder. 1) Locate your existing QuickMail Pro data on your OS 8.6 or 9.x system. Your data should be located in your Documents folder or your System Folder. 2) If your data is located in the Documents folder: ¥ Copy the QuickMail Pro Data folder to your OS X/Users//Documents folder. If your data is located in the System Folder: ¥ Go to CE Software/QuickMail Internet/Users folder. ¥ Copy the Users folder to your OS X/Users//Documents folder. ¥ Rename the new Users folder to QuickMail Pro Data. 3) Make a backup of your original QuickMail Pro data (or Users) folder, then delete the original. 4) Launch QuickMail Pro. Running QuickMail Pro on Mac OS X and OS 9 If you are running OS X and OS 9 and want to have your QuickMail data accessible on both systems, follow these instructions: 1) Create an alias of your QuickMail Pro Data folder located in your OS X /Users//Documents folder. 2) Place the alias into your OS 9 Documents folder. Launching QuickMail Pro at login 1) Open the System Preferences application. 2) Click on the Login pane. 3) Drag QuickMail Pro to the list in the Login Items tab. Optimizing Display Speed By default, QuickMail utilizes anti-aliasing when displaying text in the Message Browser. If you have many messages, you may notice a decrease in speed while navigating the list display. Navigation speed can be dramatically increased by checking the "Turn off anti-aliasing for faster text drawing" option in the Display preference panel. - - - - - - What's New in 3.0 ¥ QuickMail Pro 3.0 is carbonized for Mac OS X. ¥ Filed and sent messages can now be filed into the Inbox by using drag and drop. ¥ QuickMail Pro now supports SMTP Authorization. ¥ Changes made to messages in the Inbox can now be saved back into the Inbox. ¥ A new "Show as Plain Text" menu item has been added to the Message menu. ¥ Message formatting tools are now available in the Edit menu. ¥ QuickMail no longer leaves temporary files and folders in the Trash after restarting. ¥ File type and creator are maintained for attachments sent cross-platform. ¥ Messages saved as text now retain date, time and addressing information. ¥ More comprehensive URL support in messages. ¥ The Spelling dialog now closes when spell checking is completed. ¥ Plus many other fixes and improvements. - - - - - - Revisions 3.1.1 Some issues with Mac OS X 10.2 have been addressed. 3.1 QuickMail Pro supports built-in viewing of HTML messages in both the message window and message peek. "Display HTML in message peek" and "Display HTML in message window" preferences have been added to the Reading preference panel. On new installations these preferences are on by default. On existing QuickMail installations these preferences are off by default. - - - - - - Known Issues ¥ You may experience a delay when opening an HTML message for the first time after QuickMail Pro is launched. ¥ QuickMail does not purge the HTML cache file properly. ¥ Under Mac OS 9, if you use F-keys to activate QuickMail, you must include a modifier key. ¥ Due to a limitation in Mac OS X 10.1, the reverse finger functionality in the client no longer functions correctly. In order for this functionality to work correctly, you need to log in as root or use a 3rd party application that gives the QuickMail Pro Client root privileges. This limitation is not an issue under Mac OS 9.x. ================================================================= © 2004 Outspring, Inc. Santa Rosa, CA. All Rights Reserved.
