This file contains: * Installation Requirements * Installation and Upgrading Notes * What's New in 2.1 * Improvements * Did You Know... - - - - - - Installation Requirements QuickMail Pro requirements: * Pentium processor or greater * Windows® 98, NT 4.0, or Windows 2000 * 8 MB of RAM (16 MB recommended) * 15 MB of hard drive space (Additional drive space required as mail accumulates) * SVGA video * For full feature functionality the client must be used in conjunction with QuickMail Pro Server software. - - - - - - Installation and Upgrading Notes * Before installing, you must logout of QuickMail and quit all other QuickMail-related applications. * QuickMail Pro 2.0 uses a new file structure. If you are upgrading from QuickMail Pro 1.x, your 1.x mail will be COPIED to the new 2.0 file structure. Messages sent or received while running 2.0 will not be accessible by the 1.x client. * When upgrading from QuickMail Pro 1.x, MailManager rules will not be converted. Rules must be manually recreated for QuickMail Pro 2.0. * For your convenience, we've included a QuickMail Pro Registration form in the QuickMail Pro folder. Open the registration form in Acrobat Reader 3.0 or greater and print it out. Complete the form and fax it to us at 515-221-1806. - - - - - - What's New in 2.1 * QuickMail Pro now supports viewing of HTML messages. * Client software can now be updated directly from a QuickMail Pro Server. * A new "Lock" feature allows users to secure their QuickMail Pro client without logging out. * Search capabilities have been added to the Contact Manager. * Contacts can now be assigned to customizable categories. * Users can now print selected contacts using simple layouts. * A default address book preference can now be specified for new Contact Manager entries. - - - - - - Improvements * Multiple e-mails can now be saved as a single text file. * Improved handling of attachments when receiving messages from AOL and web-based mail programs. * Users in local groups can now be sorted. - - - - - - Did You Know... * You can now use Shortcut commands "Ctrl ->" and "Ctrl <-" to navigate between messages in the message window. * Contacts (vCards) can be shared between individuals by dragging them from the Contacts Manager to the enclosure area of a new message. * Double-clicking on an enclosure in the enclosure pane of a message window will automatically save the enclosure to a folder named "Retrieved Attachments" prior to launching it. The "Retrieved Attachments" folder is in the same folder as QuickMail Pro. * QuickMail 2.0 can send and receive mail from multiple accounts simultaneously. Just set up a new account in the QuickMail Pro Preferences. There is no need to login to separate accounts. * The small icon in the lower right-hand corner of the Mail Browser window opens the Message Peek pane. * Address books and groups can be imported from QM Pro 1.x. * You can show or hide the Message Peek pane by pressing "Alt-P". * You can copy text from the Message Peek pane. * Shortcut menu support has been added to the Message Browser window. You can reply, forward, apply rules and much more. * You can select multiple contacts in the Contacts Manager and have them automatically added as recipients of a message just by clicking the To, CC, or BCC buttons. * Mail in your Message Browser window can be filtered. Select "Show Filter Bar" from the "Window" menu and type in the text that matches the items you want to view. * You can nest your personal folders. * You can type the first few characters of a first name, last name, or E-mail address to automatically add a recipient to your messages. If multiple contacts in your Contacts Manager use the specified characters, just press the return key to display a list of possible matches. * You can create a message template by placing any message in the Templates folder located in the Drafts folder.
